Europe: Where Ancient History and Modern Sophistication Meet

Europe is among the simplest travel destinations for Americans. The Schengen Area has 29 countries where you can stay visa-free for 90 days in a 180-day period. That’s three months exploring France’s iconic Eiffel Tower and Louvre Museum, Italy’s ancient Colosseum and Vatican relics, Spain’s iconic architectural marvel Sagrada FamĂlia, or Germany’s cultural heritage. There are some other Schengen favorites, including Austria’s Alpine splendor, Belgium’s medieval charm, the Netherlands’ canal beauty, Portugal’s beach beauty, Greece’s island heaven, and Switzerland’s mountain majesty.

The United Kingdom welcomes you for up to six months, though starting January 8, 2025, you’ll need to complete a simple Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before traveling. For longer European adventures, consider Albania with its generous one-year visa-free policy, Armenia offering 180 days within a year, or Georgia, where you can stay up to 365 days exploring ancient monasteries and stunning landscapes.
